MARDEN HOUSE forthcoming CONCERTS
3rd November 2024 at 3pm Zoe Tweed (horn) and Mark Rogers (piano) Zoe is an avid chamber musician, performing both chamber and solo recitals across the UK, and also plays with many orchestras. She recently joined the Royal Philharmonic, becoming the youngest member of the orchestra. She is also a professor of Horn at the Royal College of Music. Zoe is accompanied by Mark Rogers, an American pianist who specializes in vocal and chamber music. He has been a Young Artist at many International Festivals including our own Leeds Lieder Festival. Mark is an alumnus of the Royal Academy of Music where he was awarded 1st Prize in Art Song Accompaniment. Their programme will include Charles Koechlin Horn Sonata and the York-Bowen Horn Sonata.
1st December 2024 at 3pm Sofia Demetriades (violin), Finn AndersonHedra (cello) and Daniel Tong (piano) Sofia is 16 years old and studied at the Junior Guildhall School of Music in London. She also studies at masterclasses across Europe whilst also playing both orchestral and solo performances. Sofia has won many top prizes at International Violin Competitions and has already achieved international recognition. Finn is 15 years old, and attended both the Junior Royal Academy of Music and Junior Royal Northern College of Music. She is a keen soloist and has performed Elgar’s cello concerto with the Oxford Symphony Orchestra. She is principal Cello of the National Youth String Orchestra, and has won many prizes at local and international competitions. These two very talented teenage artists will be playing with our own Artistic Director, pianist Daniel Tong. Their programme will be all Beethoven - Cello Sonata in G minor, Violin Sonata in A and Piano Trio in C minor.
26th January 2025 at 3pm Poppy Beddoe (clarinet) and Duncan Honeybourne (piano) Following her graduation in music at Kings College, London, Poppy was awarded a Masters at the Royal Academy of Music and is much in demand both as a soloist and a chamber musician, performing extensively throughout the UK and internationally. She recently recorded a concerto, written for her by Matthew Taylor, with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Duncan Honeybourne enjoys a diverse career as a pianist and in music education. Following recitals in London, Paris and at international festivals in Europe he was commended for his “gripping” and “glittering” performances by both the national and musical press. He has also broadcast frequently on BBC Radio 3 and radio networks worldwide. His many recordings reflect his long association with 20th and 21st century British piano music. Their programme will include Brahms F minor Sonata, the Bax Sonata and the Carnival of Venice by Giampieri.
23rd February 2025 at 3pm Toby White (cello) and Ryan Drucker (piano) One of the most exciting duo partnerships of their generation, Ryan and Toby have been chamber music partners since 2017, committed to providing engaging and inclusive musical experiences. They have performed in venues throughout the UK including Wigmore Hall, Conway Hall, Bridgewater Hall and the Barbican as well as BBC Radio 3 and Medici TV, winning many prizes and awards such as the Pierre Fournier and Leverhulme Trusts. Their current plans include performing programmes entitled ‘French Connections’. They will be playing a programme here entitled ‘Folk and Fairy Tales’ which will include pieces by Schumann, Janecek, Bridge, Prokofiev and Vaughan Williams.
23rd March 2025 at 3pm London Bridge Trio Ben Hancox - violin, Cara Berridge - cello Daniel Tong - piano This is one of Britain’s foremost chamber groups, who focus on the piano trio repertoire and English music of the early twentieth century. The Trio frequently appears at the Wigmore Hall and Kings Place, as well as a residency at St. John’s Smith Square entitled “Brahms and his World”, which represented four aspects of his composing life with mixed combinations and song. Ben plays on a violin by Simone Sacconi from 1932 while Cara plays a Nicolaus Gagliano cello from 1781, both generously loaned by the Royal Society of Musicians. Their programme will include piano trios by Schumann, Dvorak and Frank Bridge.
27th April 2025 at 3pm Craig Ogden (Classical Guitar) Described by BBC Music Magazine as “A worthy successor to Julian Bream”, Craig is one of the most successful guitarists of his generation. He has performed concertos with many of the world’s leading orchestras, including the London Philharmonic and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, and has performed several world premieres of concertos written for him. One of the UK’s most recorded guitarists, he has accumulated an acclaimed discography for Chandos, Virgin/EMI, Nimbus, Hyperion, Sony and six chart-topping albums for Classic FM. He has presented programmes for the BBC and ABC Classic FM in Australia. Craig recently recorded a new arrangement of the Goldberg Variations by J.S. Bach with violinist David Juritz and Cellist Tim Hugh. He has toured with the Royal Northern Sinfonia and the English Chamber Orchestra among others to much critical acclaim.
