MARDEN HOUSE CONCERTS UPDATE
Letter recently sent to the Friends of Marden House Concerts.
When in March we had to cancel the final two concerts of the season, we were hoping that the coronavirus would be under control and that we would be looking forward to enjoying our 23rd season of concerts. As we all know it has not been as simple as that.
The Marden House Centre, being a Community Centre, was put into lockdown as with other public buildings in March. The easing of Government restrictions has meant that from the 4th July Marden House became able to open to the public again - subject to a considerable list of requirements and guidance.
These requirements and guidance are such that the Trustees are currently, and for the immediate months to come, unable to return to normal activities and allow the public access. In addition, and more pertinently , "live performances eg, music, drama and comedy are not permitted". Moreover, with 2 metre social distancing being required we would only be able to accommodate 23 people in the main hall, which would include any musicians, with an additional 3 people in the gallery!
Our intention is to resume a series of concerts as soon as it becomes safe for groups of people to meet together; whenever that may be. It is still a very difficult time and the rules are changing rapidly: if viable changes are made we will review our plans. Please return to this website for updated news.
Concert Friends.
We will email or write to members when we are in a position to resume our concert program.
